The Diverse Ottoman Empire: The aim of this series is to discuss the Ottoman Empire as a multi-religious geopolitical entity rather than a singularly Islamic or proto-Turkish universe. Particular focus is placed on the various religious and ethnic communities that constituted the broader Ottoman world, the ideological or practical boundaries fostered among them, and the numerous experiences that challenged these boundaries. At the same time, this series is particularly interested in the multiple legacies that the Ottoman Empire left behind from the Balkan Peninsula to the Middle East; and from the Eastern Mediterranean to the Black Sea.
