Once the general rules of grammar of a language have been learned, it is often helpful to have translated and annotated texts for practice to see how those rules work. This is the approach taken in the present volume, which is a grammar of Syriac that begins with an overview of the basic grammatical concepts, but focuses on the learning of Syriac through reading texts. The volume includes many selected passages for reading, and each passage is accompanied by copious notes with grammatical, syntactical, and morphological information to guide the reader through the translation.
