Anthropos and Son of Man by Carl Kraeling
Kraeling’s treatment of the ancient figure known as the "Anthropos” remains a challenging read even after several decades. Surveying Hellenistic, Gnostic, Manichean, Mandean, and Jewish sources, the author suggests a ubiquitous character known as the Anthropos was used in the New Testament to characterize aspects of Christ.

A History of Christian Missions in China by Kenneth Latourette
Starting with the religious background of China, Latourette probes why Christianity appealed to the Chinese and then launches into a detailed history of its development. He considers how Christianity began before and coped under the Mongol Dynasty and then the incursion of the Roman Catholic Missions. Briefly considering the Russian Orthodox interest in Chinese missions, he moves on to what is clearly his main concern in the Protestant influx in the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Considering the main events of China’s history in relation to the European powers of the day, he considers how Christianity fared into the early nineteenth century.

A Commentary upon the Gospel According to S. Luke by S. Cyril, Patriarch of Alexandria by Robert Payne Smith
As the title of this work broadly indicates, it is the translation into English of St. Cyril of Alexandria’s commentary on the Gospel of Luke. This manuscript document had recently been acquired by Oxford University in Syriac. Payne Smith published an edition, but quickly realized that the work would largely go ignored if it were not translated into English. Cyril’s own interpretation of one of the Gospels focuses a crucial eye on a major source for understanding early Christianity.

Palestine under the Moslems by Guy Le Strange

Wortabet’s Arabic-English Dictionary was the result of a keen desire felt in the nineteenth century for a clear and accurate lexicon of Arabic into English. With the assistance of his father John Wortabet and Prof. Harvey Porter, Wortabet compiled a dictionary that was hailed as embodying the latest scholarship of its day. Its early reviewers remarked on its ease of use and convenient arrangement of material. Still in use as a standard tool for students of Arabic, this historical dictionary has stood the test of time and remains a recognized name in the study of Arabic.

William Thomson Wortabet was a Professor of English at the Egyptian Government School of Medicine and Pharmacy at Cairo. His father was a medical missionary in Beirut.
