It is well known that the writings of Eusebius of Caesarea were influential in the Greek tradition, but they were also influential in both branches of the Syriac tradition. In the present work, Gerhard Beyer surveys the evidence for the transmission of Eusebius’s work including questions and answers on the Gospels (peri diaphonias euangelion) within the Jacobite and the Nestorian Syriac traditions. Originally published as four parts, Beyer’s study is published here as one work for the first time. In Part I, Beyer presents the Syriac text and German translation of the portions of Eusebius’s work found in a catena of works attributed to Severus of Antioch. Part II includes the Syriac text and German translation of the passages found in the works of George (Giwargis) of Beeltan as compared with parallel portions found in Dionysius bar Salibi. In Part III, Beyer provides a German translation of a passage from Geregory bar Hebraeus and then compares portions of this text with parallel passages from Isho’dad of Merv and Theodore bar Koni. And finally, Part IV includes the Syriac text and German translation of parallel passages from Eusebius found in the manuscript Medic. Palat. Orient. 47.
