This volume is a detailed analysis of the Syriac epitome of Eusebius' Chronological Canons (not to be confused with his Gospel Canons), together with a comparison to the Armenian version. A Latin translation by C. Siegfried and H. Gelzer on the basis of a Vatican manuscript had appeared the previous year, and von Gutschmid takes this data as the point of departure for his study. In addition to a general discussion of the work, he also provides an outline and a number of specific details of comparison among the witnesses to Eusebius' work. Any reader concerned with Eusebius' Chronicon and with chronology in the ancient world and late antiquity generally will find this study of interest.
