In The Luminous Eye, Sebastian Brock introduces readers to the thought of St. Ephrem the Syrian, perhaps the most influential Syriac author of the Christian tradition. Brock's work is not so much a biographical introduction as it is an intellectual introduction. Brock organizes the material of this work based on major reoccurring images and expressions in Ephrem's works that summarize his theology and his ways of expressing that theology. The book contains many excerpts from the works of Ephrem for reference, and it concludes with a brief bibliography of works about Ephrem for further research. The present volume is an Arabic translation of Brock's work created by Rev. Fr. Joseph Tarzi. Table of Contents | |
