While many people are familiar with the great spiritual writings and authors of the early Greek and Latin Christian traditions, few are even aware of the vast corpus of writings from the Syriac fathers that come from the same eras. This is at least partly the result of a lack of access to these texts because they have not previously been made available in translation. The present work, The Teaching of the Syrian Fathers on Prayer, seeks to correct this lack of access by providing an anthology of texts from the Christian Syriac tradition that focus on the concepts of prayer and the spiritual life. Brock begins with selections from the earliest Syriac authors of the fourth century, Aphrahat and Ephrem, and proceeds with selections over the following centuries. The present volume is the Syriac translation of Brock's work with the text presented in a vocalized Serto script.
