In the thirteenth century, polymath Gregory Bar Hebraeus produced a number of substantive works that were very important in preserving the Syriac tradition: works of history, theology, philosophy, and biblical commentary. The present work contains Gregory's commentary on the Old and New Testaments, commonly known by it's title, The Barn of Mysteries. This work includes a brief commentary on each book of the Bible, though as with the earliest Syriac tradition, 2 Peter, 2-3 John, Jude and Revelation are omitted. This work draws on the previous commentaries of many authors of the Greek and Syriac traditions, ranging from Origen and John Chrysostom to Severus of Antioch and Philoxenus of Mabbug. The text is presented in dual columns in a vocalized Serto script. Table of Contents | |
