A history of the general councils, by a tenth century bishop of Ashmunein in Upper Egypt, in the Jacobite or anti-Chalcedonian communion, also called Saworus ibn al-Muqaffah. Writing in a clear and classic Arabic, he presents the everlasting troubles of the true church, under the inspiration of Satan, and their culmination in the persecution by the heretic Eutychius (or in Arabic, Said al-Batriq) and his followers, which include the entire Melkite Church. A useful, if often melodramatic, view from a side not often heard from; translated with an introduction by a Maronite priest.
