Jastrow treats two treatises by the 10th-century Spanish Hebrew grammarian who first applied the insights of Arab grammarians to the study of Hebrew, discovering the basic triconsonantal root structure of Hebrew verbs. His work led to a flowering of Hebrew grammatical studies in Spain.
