Kiraz wrote his first monograph at age 17, collecting historical and social information on the Syrian Orthodox community of the Holy Land. While the work is not critical and was compiled before Kiraz's academic career, it collects in one place all the information that was available at the time on this community. The book also includes a reconstructed list of the bishops of Jerusalem.
