First published in 1910, Agnes Smith Lewis's The Old Syriac Gospels or Evangelion Da-Mepharreshe, was meant to supply a new edition of the Sinai Palimpsest text of the Old Syriac Gospels, which the author had discovered in St. Catherine’s monastery in 1892.
