One Writing . . . Numerous Readings aims at explaining how the recension of the Ugaritic text--based on the Northwest Semitic Philological Data Bank--originated and how it is produced. Additionally, it aims at demonstrating the advantages of computing tools for research work in the field of Semitic and how they can help in creating a recension of the Ugaritic text.
This book gives results that are obtained by the tools and data of the Northwest Semitic Philological Data Bank which is a reflex of the methods used by specialists to interpret a text. When these texts undergo the process of segmentation, restoration, concordances and morphological analysis, real contradictions appear that result in one writing giving numerous readings.
Reviews"This book, which Cunchillos wrote together with Juan-Pablo Vita, will be an enduring part of his legacy to the scholarly world."--W.G.E. Watson, Journal for the Study of the Old Testament 31.5 (2007).
