Sebastian Brock gives in this text six poems (mimre) on various Old and New Testament themes. The texts go back to the fifth or sixth century and their authorship is mostly unknown, although one may be by Saint Ephrem. The mimre are: one on the murder of Abel (Genesis 4); one on Abraham and Sara in Egypt (Genesis 12); two on Abraham and Isaac (Genesis 22); one on the prophet Elijah (I Kings 17); one on Mary and Joseph (Matthew 1:19); one on the sinful woman (Luke 7: 16-50). Each poem is given with an introduction (also in Syriac).
