Buy this book together with A Comprehensive Grammar to Hammurabi’s Stele by M. E. J. Richardson
The historic first attempt to provide a succinct account of the reign of the founder of the Neo-Assyrian Empire, Anspacher’s monograph has stood the test of time. Written in accessible form, this brief account of a king, notorious by biblical standards, will be welcomed by all who are interested in the history of the Middle East.+This complete grammar of Codex Hammurabi is formally arranged and can be the basis for learning the rest of Akkadian grammar. Students of Biblical Hebrew or Classical Arabic will find it a most convenient introduction to this sister language. The cuneiform text has been set out in columns opposite a phonetic transcription, thus enabling the comprehensive set of citations illustrating various points of Akkadian grammar to be easily checked within their wider linguistic context. This book, when used in conjunction with the author’s previous book “Hammurabi’s Laws”, makes it possible for a student to learn to read and understand the whole text of Hammurabi’s Stele.Save $20.83

This reprint of Anspacher’s seminal work on the reign of Tiglath Pileser III is the historic first attempt to provide a succinct account of the reign of this Assyrian king. Tiglath Pileser III, known from several biblical texts, marked the beginning of the powerful Neo-Assyrian Empire. Anspacher presents, in an accessible format, the information known at the time about Tiglath Pileser’s accession, his southern and western expansions into Media, Urartu, and Syria, as well as his conquest of Babylonia. For the more technical reader, an introductory chapter on the sources behind Tiglath Pileser’s reign is included.

Abraham Samuel Anspacher (1877-1927) was a Rabbi in Scranton and Hazelton, Pennsylvania. He earned his Ph.D. from Columbia University.
