Buy this book together with The Medieval Legend of Judas Iscariot by Paull Baum
As the title of the volume ably indicates, this historical catalogue is a record of the Oriental codices in the library of the Royal University of Lund. After a brief introduction in Latin he divides the materials into different religious or language groups, beginning with Islamic materials, the largest category. Hebrew, Syriac, and Sabaean codices complete the collection. +Professor Baum provides the reader with an in depth study of the Life of Judas the Betrayer, which obviously mirrors the story of Oedipus, and its various recensions, as well as a study of the English ballad of Judas Iscariot. Hannibal's Odyssey: Environmental Background to the Alpine Invasion of Italia by William Mahaney
Hannibal's invasion of Italia in 218 BC is depicted from the standpoint of environmental evidence elicited from ancient texts, and analyzed against present-day Earth science databases. History of the Syriac Dioceses by Aphram I Barsoum
The History of Syriac Dioceses, by the late Patriarch Aphram I of Antioch and all the East, is a synopsis of a much larger study still in manuscript form. This selected portion of this history, published for the first time in English translation along with the original Arabic text, offers the reader an in-depth treatment of the conditions of the Syrian Orthodox Church in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.

History of the Za'faraan Monastery by Aphram I Barsoum
The History of the Za’faran Monastery is for the first time offered in English translation to the readers. It was written in 1917 by Patriarch Ignatius Aphram Barsoum (d. 1957) when he was still a monk at the monastery. The book details the history of the monastery from its inception until modern times. It deals with with everything, from construction to its significance as a center of Syriac learning and learned men. Without this small book, the first of its kind, a great and significant page of the history of the Syrian Church of Antioch would have been lamentably lost.

A set of indices help to locate specific topics addressed in this assemblage of materials. A supplement containing further Arabic materials and an Ethiopic manuscript, together with a separate index, is also included. An unsurpassed catalogue of the holdings in Lund, this reference is now once again accessible to scholars and general readers alike.

Carl Johan Tornberg (1807-1877) was a Swedish Orientalist. He studied theology and oriental languages at the University of Uppsala, and also studied in Paris. He became Professor of Oriental Languages at the University of Lund. He wrote widely across his many areas of interest.
