John Chrysostom was one of the most influential Christian writers, as evidenced by fact that many of his works have survived in several different translations. In the present study, Willi Heffening presents a German translation of two sermons by Chrysostom on the subject of the monk Theodore preserved in Arabic. The Greek version of these sermons can be found in Migne, and the Arabic texts were also published previously. Thus, the present article makes the text of the Arabic version available in a modern translation in order to make it more readily available for scholars. In his introduction to the translation, Heffening discusses several issues regarding the translation technique and particular features of the Arabic version of the text.
