Richard Clogg’s I Kath’imas Anatoli (“our Anatolia”) is a collection of articles which discuss the former Greek presence in Asia Minor. The papers deal with the experience of the Greek peoples under Ottoman rule before and after the start of the Greek War of Independence in 1821 and up until 1923 when the Treaty of Lausanne mandated the population exchange with Turkey. Amongst the papers, Clogg looks at the community in Smyrna (Izmir), which was a main point of contact between Greeks and Europeans. Additionally, his papers address missionary efforts directed at Greeks, the independence struggle and Greek perceptions of their history. Clogg also includes four articles on Karamanli and the Karamanlidies, the Turkish-speaking Greeks of the Ottoman Empire. Table of Contents
