James Denney was Principal of Free Church College, Glasgow. He prepared the Cunningham Lectures for the University of Edinburgh in 1917, but was prevented from giving them by his last illness. They are here published posthumously with some very light editing of the notes. The six lectures cover the experimental basis of the doctrine, its appearance in Christian thought, the New Testament doctrine, the necessity of reconciliation, and its practice as achieved by Christ and as realized in human life.
