This work, Hoffmann's dissertation, first investigates the versions of Aristotle's De Interpretatione in Syriac, including a presentation of some variants across these versions in comparison with the Greek. The second part of the study provides a critical edition of part of the work according to two versions, namely from a Berlin Petermann manuscript and the version of George, Bishop of the Arabs (d. 724). Hoffmann later (1873) republished this work along with more texts and a glossary. This slim volume will be of interest to anyone studying the transmission of Greek philosophical literature into Arabic (and thence into Syriac).
