This volume constitutes a documentary history of the Maronites and their relationship to Rome from the 6th to the 16th century. The sources include papal letters and excerpts from Greek, Arabic, Latin, and French histories, very significant among which are those from Melkites. The author lists and generally discusses his sources in the preface. His final presentation results in texts in Latin, Arabic, Syriac, and French. This volume, then, conveniently provides historians and others with valuable information, not only on the Maronites themselves, but also on interactions of Christian denominations during this period.
