In this volume, Boré (1809-1878), who traveled in the Middle East, here offers a study of religious life among the Chaldeans. Much attention is given to religious communities and monasticism, in particular that of the Rabban Hormizd Monastery, about two miles from Alqosh (Iraq), which was also later visited by Budge in 1890.
