Ceriani's edition of Codex Ambrosianus (7a1) provides a facsimile of one of the oldest manuscripts of the standard Syriac translation of the Bible. In addition to the books of the Old Testament and Apocrypha (Wisdom of Solomon, Letter of Jeremiah, Letter of Baruch, Baruch, Bel and the Dragon, Susanna, Judith, Bar Sira, Apocalypse of Baruch, 4 Ezra and all four books of Maccabees), Codex Ambrosianus (7a1) also contains Book 6 of Josephus' Jewish War, on the fall of Jerusalem. There are several lacunae in the manuscript, chiefly in Numbers and Chronicles. Four missing bifolia from Numbers are supplied from BL MS Add. 14,427, and four missing bifolia from Chronicles are supplied from another manuscript of the same age. This edition includes the titles pages to Ceriani's edition, with a list of donors and subscribers (British, Italian and German), and Ceriani's Preface in Latin. Ceriani annotated the margins of the manuscript with book, chapter and verse. Gorgias' edition contains both of Ceriani's volumes bound together, without his second title page, a Foreword by George A. Kiraz, headings for easy reference and pagination that follows that of Ceriani's facsimile.
