Gregory Bar Hebraeus is one of he most important authors of the later Syriac tradition. His various thirteenth century works on history, philosophy and theology are compendiums of knowledge rivaled by few, if any, other authors of the Christian tradition. The present work, The Lamp of the Sanctuary, is a work of systematic theology in which Bar Hebraeus expounds upon twelve topics: General knowledge, the nature of created things, theological speculation, the incarnation, angels, the priesthood, evil spirits, the rational soul, free will, resurrection, the last days, and paradise. The text, which is presented in Serto script with two columns per page, comes from a sixteenth century manuscript. The volume is includes an introduction by Julius Yeshu Çiçek and a table of contents.
