Description of a unique Old Testament codex in Georgian, which is badly damaged, but once contained the first eight books of the Bible, the Prophets, and marginal commentary on both, in a peculiar hand, intermediate between the ecclestiastical and the warrior forms of Georgian. The first part is an unknown translation, direct from the Greek, which is remarkably literal in using participial phrases and double letters; the second half resembles the hitherto unsourced printed Georgian bible (Moscow, 1743). The whole casts new light on the history of Georgian, the evolution of the Georgian Old Testament, and the relation of the Moscow text to the Armenian bible.
