The history of the world, from Adam to Jesus, as presented in an Ethiopic manuscript which represents a Coptic original. Among the included stories: Adam and Eve lived in the Cave of Treasures under the Garden; they were comforted by the Word of God, which was to come again as Jesus, and were tempted fifteen separate times by the Devil. But they resisted, and the Devil tempted Cain to kill Abel out of jealousy over their sister Luluwa. Also: how the descendants of Seth were tempted off the Holy Mountain of Eden to mix with the children of Cain; how the body of Adam was handed down, taken on the Ark, and reburied at last in the Center of the Earth, at Golgotha, by Shem and his grandson Melchizedek; Noah's fourth son, Barwin, and his student, Nimrod, who invented fire-worship; the descent of the Patriarchs, the Kings of Judah, and the ancestors of Jesus - and all of their wives; and the salvation of Adam and Eve by Christ, before the Resurrection.
