One of the very few sources for the study of the history of Mongolian was discovered by the Baltic emigre- scholar Poppe: the Khwarizmian scholar, al-Zamakhshari, who made a word list for his native language and Arabic. One manuscript of this work, written at Bukhara and now at Leyden, contains a large collection of Mongol words as well as the Chorasmian; they are collected and commented on in this monograph
