Beginning with a list of the manuscripts of the Council of Ancyra (314), Rackham presents a critical text of the Canons of that Council followed by an extensive essay. Rackham’s main goal is to assist in establishing an accurate text of these Canons. His essay documents and assesses the manuscripts available for his critical work. After this substantial evaluation, the Syriac and Armenian versions are given in Latin translation in the appendices for the purposes of comparison.

Richard Belward Rackham (1863-1912) of Worcester College was a noted New Testament scholar. He is best known for his commentary on the book of Acts in the Westminster Commentary series.
