Sedre are the liturgical prayers that have developed within the West Syriac tradition to accompany the liturgies of worship and feast days. In the present work, Stephen Plathottathil provides a study of the sedre corresponding to the portion of the liturgical year from annunciation (suboro) to nativity (yaldo) by comparing the texts of these prayers in ancient manuscripts to the texts of the nineteenth century Mosul edition of the Fenqitho. Plathottathil also includes the Syriac text and English translation of many of these sedre, making them available for the first time in English translation.
