This volume contains a selection of papers submitted as a part of a research project aiming at the creation of a new Mediterranean Cultural Policy based on cultural dialogue, trust and accountability. Recognizing that the Mediterranean has given birth to many of history’s great civilisations, the authors hope that its position as a separator of three continents can serve as a present-day impetus to forward cultural understanding. Towards this goal, the papers study how the “other” is represented or has historically been represented across the Mediterranean region.
