In celebration of what would have been the 100th birthday of Anton D. Kiraz (the late father of George A. Kiraz, co-founder of Gorgias Press), Gorgias Press is offering a bundle in his honor! The books included in the bundle are Anton Kiraz's Archive on the Dead Sea Scrolls by George Anton Kiraz, The Ancient Synagogue of Beth Alpha by Eleazar Lipa Sukenik, and The Earliest Records of Christianity: With a New Introduction by George A. Kiraz by Eleazar Lipa Sukenik.

Anton's family escaped Sayfo and settled first in Lebanon, then Haifa (Palestine), then Jerusalem. Anton worked hard and became a successful businessman. He built a three-unit house in Talpiot and had two successful taxi services (with 5 American cars in the 1940s). While building his house, he discovered the first Talpiot caves that had ossuaries. The caves were excavated by E. L. Sukenik (Yigael Yadin's father). During the same period, Anton was involved in the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls with Archbishop Athanasius Yeshu Samuel. In the 1948 Arab-Israeli war, Anton lost everything and became a refugee in Bethlehem. During George's last three trips to Jerusalem, he tried to locate Anton's house. Anton also left a large archive on the Dead Sea Scrolls which contains his letters of correspondance.
