Professor Lietzmann led his church history seminar in the analysis of the lives of St. Symeon Stylites, Antonius, Simeon bar Apollon, and Simeon bar Chahar. He also looked at some of Symeon's writings that include the Life of Daniel, some correspondence, and a homily. These are reprinted here, with the Syriac in Hilgenfeld's German translation. In addition, there are the seminar’s conclusions on the nature and reliability of these sources. This is both a standard piece of source-criticism and a sourcebook for all modern students of Symeon.
