In 1928 Jules Jeannin published his Mélodies liturgiques syriennes et chaldéennes, which greatly increased the accessibility of many eastern Christian liturgies to modern scholarship. However, there were many hymns that were available to Jeannin that were not included in his study. In the present article, Odilo Heiming offers the Syriac text of eighty brief hymns (enjane) accompanied by German translations and brief comparisons with similar hymns. Heiming also includes notations for comparisons with the hymns included in Jeannin’s study.
