This begins with an account of the manuscript collections of apologetic, chiefly that of the famous Arethas Codex, with an account of the learned bishop Arethas of Caesarea. Then a listing of the works and fragments of Justin Martyr, Tatian, and their contemporaries: Quadratus, Aristides, Aristo of Pella, "Jason and Papiscus," Apollinaris of Hierapolis, Melito of Sardis, Miltiades (and a discussion of which Miltiades he was), Theophilus of Antioch, and Athenagoras of Athens (and whether the apology under his name to Marcus Aurelius and Commodus is genuine).
