Thanks to the revered position Theodore of Mopsuestia held among many Syriac authors, particularly of the Church of the East, several of his works survive only in Syriac translation. In this volume, Sachau publishes fragments of these translations from manuscripts in the British Museum (now Library): commentaries on Genesis and the Minor Prophets, On the Incarnation, a Morning Hymn, and various short exegetical and theological fragments. The editor also provides a Latin translation of each Syriac text published. This book is an essential resource for the history of biblical interpretation and of theology in the Christian east, and these texts are all the more important since Theodore's works hardly survived in Greek.
