Edwin W. Fay, a professor of comparative linguistics at the University of Texas who was known for his translations of the Rig-veda Mantras in the Grhya Sutras, here turns his attention to Latin literature. This is his study of the text of Varro's de lingua latina he suggests emendations to the masterly edition of Goetz and Schoell. This commentary forms a useful companion to the text of Varro, and also shows the work of a master linguist and paleographer. Classicists and those working on Varro will find this a useful, if specialized, paper.
